A leading women’s dress brand based in New York City, is seeking a highly skilled Pattern Engineer / Marker Maker to join our Technical Design and Production team. This role plays a pivotal part in bridging creative vision with technical precision—ensuring our engineered prints align beautifully with garment patterns while maximizing fabric efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Job Requirements:
• 3–5 years of experience in marker making or print engineering for apparel, preferably women’s dresses.
• Deep understanding of print repeat sizes, pattern making, and garment construction.
• Proficiency in Lectra Diamino preferred (training available for comparable systems).
• Strong spatial and visual problem-solving skills to convert creative concepts into efficient production files.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across design, CAD, and production functions.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and awareness of how print and layout choices affect garment costing.
• Experience with brands that specialize in placement or engineered prints.
• Familiarity with multiple CAD or digital print systems.
• Knowledge of cost optimization in pre-production processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Engineer and execute placement prints for dresses in collaboration with designers to ensure both aesthetic alignment and technical feasibility.
• Create precise mini markers with detailed measurements, placement notes, borders, and screen sizes.
• Reengineer fabric layouts to achieve optimal yardage efficiency without compromising design integrity.
• Translate design concepts into accurate print layouts and repeats that match style specifications.
• Advise on pattern adjustments (e.g., grainline changes, piece rotation, splits) based on print repeat size.
• Evaluate grading impacts on markers and costing across size scales.
• Partner with CAD artists and creative teams to deliver high-quality engineered prints that meet brand and retailer standards.
• Apply strong fabric knowledge to guide decisions on color limits, screen printing constraints, and placement joins.
Collaborate with cutting and spreading teams to ensure correct execution of engineered print layouts.
